Perhaps you’ve noticed a curious theme running through our Village of Lindenhurst: royalty seems to be everywhere.
After all, Lindenhurst is guarded on all sides by three kings…well, more accurately, the homes of the “whopper.” No matter which direction you enter Lindy, you’ll likely pass one of three Burger Kings. Travel farther north into Suffolk County and you’ll find Kings Park. Look west toward our neighboring county and you’ll get the “point”: royalty dwells there, too, in Kings Point. And of course, the largest “kingdom” in our region sits on Long Island’s western tip: Kings County, better known as Brooklyn.
You don’t even have to leave Lindenhurst to find a crown or two. Need groceries? Visit King Kullen. Down on your knees, scrubbing the floor, and realize it needs more than elbow grease? The King of Kleen is ready for royal service. Need to pay tribute? There’s always King Cash Pawn Shop. And if you want to be close to civic power, simply walk past Town Hall along North Kings Avenue.
Yes, our humble Lindenhurst church is surrounded by kingdoms of all kinds. But the most essential sovereignty, the one that truly claims us, is the Kingdom of God.
We invite you to come before the throne of the King of Kings this Sunday, November 23, at 9:30 AM (please see the attached worship bulletin). Join us as we celebrate Christ the King Sunday in the heart of our little village at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 36 East John Street, Lindenhurst.
Come and live in the kingdom that never fades.
Blessings,
Pastor Marc
