September is a month of fresh starts: New school years, new routines, and, at St. John’s, a new season of faith formation. This Sunday, September 21, our 2025-26 Sunday School kicks off during the 9:30 AM worship service. As always, children “from 9 months to 95 years young at heart” are invited to gather for the Pastor’s Children’s Message before heading out with our gifted leaders for Bible stories, crafts, and joyful learning.
But the excitement doesn’t end there. Confirmation Class also begins its two-year journey this week, meeting Sundays at 10:45 AM. This year’s focus is Holy Scripture—diving deep into the story of God’s love as revealed in the Bible. From the Books of Moses to the Gospels and the drama of Revelation, our students will explore how God’s Word speaks to our world today. Together we’ll ask questions, wrestle with meaning, and discover how ancient stories still shape modern lives.
I love the phrase “planting seeds,” because that’s what this season is all about. Jesus often compared God’s kingdom to a tiny seed that grows into something far greater than we imagine. Whether you’re a wide-eyed kindergartener, a curious teen, or a parent watching from the pew, God is at work—nurturing faith that will flourish in its own time and way.
So bring your children, grandchildren, neighbors, or simply your own child-like spirit. Let’s celebrate the start of Sunday School and Confirmation together, trusting that the Holy Spirit will water these seeds of faith and make them grow. Help us plant faith by joining us for our 9:30 AM Holy Communion worship service this Sunday, September 21. Our worship bulletin is attached.
Blessings,
Pastor Marc
