The Cat’s Out of the Bag!

by | Oct 2, 2025

The secret is out – St. John’s will hold its annual Blessing of the Pets this Sunday, October 5th, at 11:00 AM beneath our church tower. Word has spread because everyone has been working like a dog to get ready

The early weather reports are favorable. We won’t be in the dog days of summer, nor will it be raining cats and dogs. After our 9:30 AM worship service, you may even want to take a quick catnap so you won’t arrive dog-tired.

This is a special moment to honor your beloved companions. Bring them along so they know they’re the top dog, the cool cat, the apple of your eye. After all, every dog has its day—and this one is theirs to be the cat’s meow.

Arrive early to avoid a herd of cats or the scramble for a prime spot like a dog with a bone. Catfights won’t be tolerated, and we don’t expect a dog-eat-dog scene, but please don’t show up looking like something the cat dragged in!

Before our joyful gathering of pets, we’ll celebrate our traditional worship at 9:30 AM. There will be enough time afterward to collect your furry, feathered, or scaled friends for their special blessing.

Join us this Sunday at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 36 East John Street, Lindenhurst. Please see the attached worship bulletin. We look forward to seeing you—and your companions—there!

Blessings,

Pastor Marc
